the Ghosts have been quite active outside cyber space. We played anoter Elvis gig. Slightly more elaborate. I had my own sunglass guy. we opened for a Neil Diamond Impersonater. yeah that's right...

we also played a very intimate show at manhattans a few weeks ago. the highlight being joined onstage by "the Minnows" to do some backing vocals (after being reeled in). Damn they were hot fish....so fresh!

Aiight...

The Ghosts have been doing quite a bit lately but keeping it to ourselves. It is our secret. No, we will not divulge-- quit asking...sigh...okay, since you are soooo persistent.

We froze our asses off at Earth Fest when we rawked it. At the end of the set I told the very sparse and chilly hippy crowd that we would be there all week and to try the veal.

We also played a funhouse gig in support of Dereks Friday Night Show on New Rock 90.3.

We also played the fabulous South Knox Vestival. Crack Baby could not get a day pass from his rehab program so we played as a three piece. Thank you for the great photo of us rawking by South Knox Bubba.

We are currently booking new shows and wew will be sure and let you know what is up before we know.

Hi there...Thank you verah much. I would like to welcome you to this blog. I will be playing here all week. Try the veal.

Last Friday very much rawking went down at the preservation pub. Todd Steed and the One Time Suns kicked ass with their ramones set. the only low point being when i sang "little ramona" with them. They did rap, reggea and country versions of the ramones classics but they didn't fuck them up at all. go figure. i am still singing their reggea version of "i wanna be well" in my head.

We hit the stage and burned through our set because next thing i know we are doing shooters with Pub owner Scott West and then playing the final song in our set, "if i can dream." Did i mention there were a lot of hot chicks at this show? did i mention i am also tired of capitalizing. i shant capitalize again this entire post.

nug jug hit the stage and played the who's tommy almost to perfection. i was hoping they would smash some guitars along the way but no...sigh...it was still one of the most amazing things i have seen in a while. it fucking sounded just fuckin like it. no fuck!!! i can say fuck on a blog right? why the fuck not?

it was the first time we have played the preservation pub and i really liked it. it has great beer and atmosphere plus every other tuesday you can gamble on monkey knife fighting back in the alley behind the pub. no, really...

the pub is planning on doing more of these shows and i plan on attending every one. oh yeah and it was all for charity. the money is going to teach inner city kids how to rap.

The ghosts will be playing THIS FRIDAY MARCH 18th at album night at the Preservation Pub in market square. We are taking a break from the pimpin' to step our rawk game up...nah sayin'?

We are gonna be playing all Elvis songs from the recently discovered Knox-vull album. Thanks for the hundreds of requests that were emailed to me. We will be playing all of them except for the rare and controversial Elvis song "In the barnyard."

Nug Jug will be doing the WHO's TOMMY...no shit. and Todd Steed and the one time Suns will be doing the Ramones Rocket to Russia. From what I understand Todd Steed will be really entertaining because he will be doi......(transmission mysteriously scrambled).....with both shoes on!!! so you would have to be crazy to miss that. Anyhoo.

oh...and did i mention that is is for a good cause. All proceeds from the door ($3) go to help disadvantage kids learn to play a musical instrument. Really!

I know it has been a long time since this has been updated but i refuse to apologize because I know you have probably stopped reading by now anyway....

aiight...

the Ghosts have been vacationing in their winter home in Branson, Missouri. there are no "internets" in branson so posting has been difficult. Many exciting things have happened but what would be the point of posting them on a blog?

Lemme get right to it. we have a gig. waaaay off in the future--MARCH 18th--It is an album night show at the preservation pub. We are doing Elvis Presley, an obscure rockabilly artist from the fifties. He is really pretty good.

We are performing the very rare "knox-vull album." It will totally spank!

If you wish to request Elvis songs for us to play at the show then email me---remember anything you request must be able to be performed after the performers drink a liter of Jack Daniels. Thank you.

Johnny Satin now spells his name Gionaivicci Santini and He who Cannot Be Named was named by a stranger in the Red Iquana and was arrested after the resulting star fit. aaaannnnnnd we have like four or five new songs and shit. If you are lucky you will never hear them.

the Ghosts are presently recording something. we have some new songs. oh but they are catchy.

Right now we are recording at Crack Baby's Basement of Bliss. we do a good recording...or else we get the hose.

Crack Baby bought a very nice tube microphone that is so nice he won't let anyone use it.

We are recording this digitally so it can immediately be pirated onto the internet--- none of that tedious waiting around to steal it.

I am looking into a website that hosts music for free downloading. hopefully I can get the huge Ghosts backlog up there so the unwashed masses can finally rawk. I haven't mentioned this to the other guys in the band so don't tell anyone. I knew you could keep a secret.

A Tale of Two Gigs...Epic!!!

Okay...

So Friday night we played at Manhattans to a small yet lightly receptive crowd.

I can honestly say it was our worst gig evar! Not the crowd. they were lightly receptive. But we fucked up an excessive amount of times. Could I pick a favorite time? No, they were all very special in their own way.

So we drank tequila shots until we could drink no more and then I think we probably sounded better...But I am a bad person to ask about that. You should instead ask someone who was "there"...

HIGHLIGHTS:

Big Dude with a Hair Helmet in a very small caveman costume along with Seargent Slaughter and the Hulk, in sort of a before costume I guess because his clothes were torn but he wasn't green or anything. They were all dancing right up front which was delightfully disturbing.

Several trainwrecks where we screwed the songs up so bad even we could not recognize them.

I dedicated a song to the list of people who have written books talking about what a dumbass bush jr is and a couple of people walk out. I love that!!!! I have already mailed their share of the door money to John Kerry's Campaign.

And of course right when we finish playing after a good three hours the obligatory jack ass comes up and asks us why we are stopping and that he paid good money to only hear one song. I tell him I will get him his money back but instead he takes turns telling his musical life story to each member of the band...fascinating...really. Each time one of us would shake him he would be spotted trying to bond with another ghost...so i guess we made a new friend. I think I saw him outside my house last night around 4am....he had something in his hand...

SATURDAY NIGHT AT THE HILL OF TRUTH

So we played a HUGE bike race event on saturday. Really pretty fun.

We played much better and the crowd was very nice. It was the kind of thing I would never know existed even though there were easily two hundred people there. I participate in the one where you race your couch. the COUCH OF TRUTH.

And how about that name? THE HILL OF TRUTH--UTH----UTH ---UTH-----UTH.... (LIKE AN ECHO...bear with me)

Paul Noe sat in on a couple of songs on bass. He was great as always. He also took some photos which I hope to post on the blog so I can stare at myself whenever I am near a computer.

we played a very clean show because there were families there and shit and we simply rawked and rawked outside until the generator ran out of gas and we would have had to send somebody out to Iraq to get more so we just wrapped it up.

That was a fun event.

(the following statement is diametrically opposed the belief system of our part time bass player Paul...so excuse him from my rantings..)

Tomorrow is the damn election. I really really want Kerry to win and for Bush Jr to get the fuck out of the white house and take his criminals...I mean cabinet with him.

I love my country and am tired of Bush fucking it up.

It turns out that Cat Stevens or Mr Kitty as we always call him was stopped at the airport and sent back to England when it was learned the he was planning on sitting in with us. The Bush administration has since apologized to us for the inconvenience and John Asscroft himself asked if he could personally come and physically kiss all our asses to make things right. I told him that would be a start. He flew in and kissed my ass earlier today. I made sure not to shower first.

Okay so last night at the show all kind of shizzy went down but I can't remember most of it do to the power of sweet sweet tequila.

lemme tell you what I remember...

First of all there were very few people there as usual. No giftbags with our names on them either.

So we are laying the rawk down in our own special way. A guy requests some Stevie Ray Vaughn. I have to explain to him that Stevie Ray was a genius and we are the Ghosts so no...no Stevie Ray tonight or prolly evah.

Next interruption. In the darkness and through the smoke from our very high tech smoke machine a girl approaches the stage on crutches. those elbow crutches that people without legs use. anyhoo. When she gets to the stage I realize that she is an old friend that I have not seen in about 8 years...holy shit.

She asks if she can play a song. The girl don't miss a beat huh. I ask her what the hell the crutches are for and she tells me she is recovering from a brain tumor...nice huh? I later learn that they had to remove most of her cerebellum and that affected her balance. she is prolly looking at another year on those crutches...sigh...

So at this point I cannot refuse her. While this is going on the guys in the band have no idea who this chick is. The looks on their faces as I handed her my guitar could make Dick Chinney go limp. anyhoo. it sorta got surreal for a few minutes as she does a damn good job blowing through our classic song of the need for more misunderstanding in the world 1-800-DIVORCE. The song ends and I explain to the guys who just played with us and there were hugs all around as everyone said hi.

Next inturruption. This is pretty good. Dude comes up and tells us it is his girlfriends 21st birthday and would we please embarrass her from the stage. We are always happy to embarrass someone besides ourselves in the live setting so I insist that now that she is of age she have a real shooter. No sex on the beach no buttery nipple none of that silly underage shit. And of course I recommend tequila. She Recommends that we buy her that shot. She somehow knows our weakness...We agree. Shots are ordered over the microphone which is a fantastic way to get a bartenders attention.

The Tequila shots arrive and we promptly stop in the middle of our song out of respect for excessive booze consumption. We do the shots and finish the song, or so I was told later. I spend the rest of the set dampening Johnny Satans ride cymbal with my hand to amuse myself and annoy him.

Dick Chinney makes an appearance. people laugh. people are dragged over by their friends because they must see. Many are amused and some are repulsed. Unfortunately among the repulsed was the manager. more about that later...

Set ends and I go to see how the birthday girl is. Some may have perceived her condition at the time as not well. But of course it is all very subjective and it was her birthday after all. She is leaned halfway over in her barstool and mumbling something to herself. I talk to her boyfriend for a moment and tell him we are sorry and will buy her another shooter if that would help. At this point she pops her head up and slurs that there is way too much talking and to quit it...I apologize and explain to her that men must discuss everything in detail to process things. A women could not understand our inborn need for this. The joke was lost on her much like every joke I tell. That is why we resort to the old standby: the dick on the chin.

We take our usual excessively long set break. The manager tells me he loves and trusts us to play there and be cool...but what the hell is that shit?!?!?! We are learning that a dick on your chin can really promote a whole spectrum of emotions . We are toying with the idea of some kind of good will tour centered around it.

Kim Koehler, the girl on the crutches is joined by Crack Baby and Johnny Satan and she plays a few songs. Then we take the stage again. I remember very little about this next set except that I had assured the manager that Dick Chinney would not show his...um...er...face....on stage anymore. Of course I turn around and Dick Chinney is there looking sort of haunting in the smoke and dim lighting. And of course the manager is there to see all of this. We are waiting a week or so before we book anything else there just in case anyone is a lil bit pissed.

Chuck Watt from Nug Jug joined us for our last couple songs. We might as well have a rule that if you know the songs you cannot sit in with us. he actually wailed some solos and shit. We made fun of hoobastank and then called it a night. Gawdamn but we are brilliant and shit! more to come...

Southern Culture on the Skids was very hungover during the sound check...or so it appeared. the girl in the band threw a star fit that any bush league alterna-rawker would be proud of. A lot of cussing and liberal use of the word Nazi was necessary to be sure she had a good mix from her 'lil monitor.

They also had these gift bags with their names on them backstage and all this kooky stuff that we will never get because we suck too bad to deserve even a gift bag...sigh...

but enough about them...

we messed up several songs. The most impressive screw-up was when I stopped one verse short during a newer song and then stared at the other guys in the band like they were crazy as they kept going...

But Dick Chinney came out and promptly diverted everyones attention.

The Peeps at Blue Cat's were very nice to us even after we expanded our backstage area to include the upstairs and had to be escorted out of there with flashlights...

We will be rawking again this friday the 24th at Manhattans
